The Plaza turns Fifth Avenue into a world of chandeliers, grand staircases and private residential life. The Beatles occupied an entire wing during their first American visit, while decades later Tommy Hilfiger made the landmark his home in an exuberant penthouse duplex high above Central Park South.
Arne Jacobsen's landmark beside Tivoli remains one of Copenhagen's defining design hotels. The Beatles stayed in the then-named SAS Royal Hotel during their June 1964 visit, appearing at its windows and holding a press conference inside the same building that houses today's Radisson Collection.
