Lady Gaga at The Taj Mahal Hotel New Delhi: Evidence From Her 2011 Stay

July 19, 2026

Lady Gaga stayed at The Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi during her October 2011 visit. Hindustan Times reported her arrival at the hotel and explicitly identified it as her accommodation. The Guardian independently published portraits taken at the exact property, while India Today documented her press appearance there during the same Formula One visit.

Celebrity Hotels classifies this as a verified stay with evidence grade B. The evidence establishes accommodation at the New Delhi hotel, not only attendance at a hotel event. It does not establish formal check-in or checkout times, the number of charged nights, a room or suite, rate, payer, reservation terms or a later stay.

The contemporaneous stay report

Hindustan Times published its account on October 28, 2011, while Gaga was in New Delhi. The newspaper reported that she entered the Taj Mahal Hotel on the evening of her arrival and separately stated that she was staying at the property.

That accommodation statement is the direct basis for the stay verdict. The report also described a presidential suite, but it did not publish a reservation confirmation, guest folio or hotel statement. Celebrity Hotels therefore does not elevate the reported suite into a separately verified room assignment.

Independent exact-property evidence

The Guardian later published an exclusive portrait series from Gaga's India trip. Its captions place multiple photographs at The Taj Mahal Hotel, including a portrait made in the garden of the New Delhi property. The images remain with The Guardian and its photographer; Celebrity Hotels links to the gallery without copying them.

India Today independently documented Gaga's first public press appearance in India at the Taj Mahal Hotel on October 28. That report establishes a completed appearance at the property during the same trip. A press conference alone would be an event, not an overnight stay, so this evidence is used only to corroborate the exact hotel and visit.

The independent property evidence matters because the stay conclusion does not rest on transferring a generic Delhi appearance to a hotel. Hindustan Times supplies the explicit accommodation statement; The Guardian and India Today verify her presence at the named property during the documented trip.

Exact hotel identity

The verified property is the Taj hotel at Number One Mansingh Road in New Delhi. Taj Hotels currently presents it as Taj Mahal, New Delhi and gives that same address. The existing Celebrity Hotels entity uses the historical display name The Taj Mahal Hotel and points to the New Delhi property on Booking.com.

This is not The Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai. It is also separate from Taj Palace, New Delhi, another Taj-branded hotel in the capital. The contemporary sources name the Taj Mahal Hotel, and The Guardian narrows its portrait location to New Delhi. The official Mansingh Road identity, indexed coordinates and booking target all resolve to the same hotel.

No former-name or sister-property transfer is needed. The difference between The Taj Mahal Hotel and the current Taj Mahal, New Delhi styling is a presentation change for the same Mansingh Road property, not evidence of a different destination.

What the 2011 timeline establishes

Hindustan Times places Gaga's arrival at the hotel during the Diwali period and says she was in Delhi for four days. India Today records the following day's hotel press appearance in the context of India's first Formula One Grand Prix, and The Guardian's later gallery documents portraits made at the property.

The four-day city itinerary does not prove four hotel nights. A travel schedule can include partial days, private transfers or accommodation not visible to the public. The verdict is therefore limited to a stay during the October 2011 visit.

The sources also describe Gaga's Formula One closing-night performance outside the hotel. The performance explains the trip but does not itself prove accommodation. The hotel relationship is established by the separate stay reporting.

What remains uncertain

No reviewed source publishes a booking confirmation, room number, invoice, exact check-in or checkout, billed-night count, rate, payer, booking party, full entourage allocation or commercial arrangement.

Hindustan Times reported a presidential suite, but the independent sources establish the exact property rather than the room assignment. The article therefore excludes a suite from the evidence verdict. It also makes no claim that Gaga preferred the hotel, returned on another trip or currently uses it in New Delhi.

No hotel, newspaper or social-media image has been copied. Readers can inspect the original portrait record at The Guardian and the contemporary reports at their publishers.

Why this receives grade B

Evidence grade B requires at least two independent reputable publishers and a direct basis. Hindustan Times directly reports accommodation at the Taj Mahal Hotel. The Guardian provides recognizable visual evidence at the New Delhi property, and India Today independently documents Gaga's completed press appearance there during the same visit.

The sources are used for distinct propositions rather than counted as repeated versions of one story. The official Taj page confirms the modern property identity and address but does not claim Gaga as a guest.

Evidence verdict

Verified: Lady Gaga stayed at The Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi during her October 2011 visit.

Relationship type: Stay.

Direct evidence: Contemporary reporting explicitly identifies the hotel as her accommodation, supported by independent exact-property photography and reporting from the same trip.

Not verified: Exact arrival or departure, charged-night count, room or suite, rate, bill, payer, booking terms, later stays or current preference.
