George Clooney stayed at Hotel de Russie in Rome while Ocean's Twelve was filmed there in June 2004. Contemporaneous reporting placed the film's actors at the hotel, and later independent hotel and travel coverage directly identifies Clooney as a guest during the production.
Celebrity Hotels classifies this as a verified stay relationship with evidence grade B. The evidence supports accommodation at the exact Via del Babuino property during the Rome filming period. It does not establish Clooney's room or suite, check-in or checkout dates, total nights, reservation holder, rate or every member of the group.
The contemporaneous Rome report
El Siglo de Torreón published an agency report from Rome on June 8, 2004 as the Ocean's Twelve production occupied locations around the city. It names George Clooney among the principal actors already filming and says the actors had established their base on the fifth floor of Hotel de Russie.
The report distinguishes the hotel from filming locations. It separately names Termini station, streets, squares, airports and other planned sets, while describing Hotel de Russie as the actors' headquarters. That wording supports accommodation rather than proving merely that a scene was filmed at the hotel.
The source does not list a room for each performer or say every cast member occupied the fifth floor for the same dates. For Clooney, it establishes his presence in the active Rome production and connects the production's actors to the exact hotel during that period.
Independent stay wording
TravelMole reported on November 24, 2006 that George Clooney and Brad Pitt stayed at Rocco Forte's Hotel de Russie during the filming of Ocean's Twelve. Its article concerns a new hotel suite created later, but its description of the two actors' earlier stay is direct and unambiguous.
The suite being introduced in 2006 was the Nijinsky Suite. Because it postdates the 2004 production, its floor, features and price cannot be projected backward onto Clooney's stay. TravelMole does not say he used that suite.
Lonely Planet Italia independently identifies Hotel de Russie at Via del Babuino 9 and says the hotel hosted George Clooney, alongside other recent celebrity guests. That property-specific guest wording corroborates the relationship without adding a room or date.
Property identity
The verified property is Hotel de Russie at Via del Babuino 9, 00187 Rome. The hotel's official Rocco Forte story page gives that exact address and places it between Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps.
The current Celebrity Hotels record uses the same name, Rome city assignment, Via del Babuino Booking.com target and coordinates beside Piazza del Popolo. There is no same-name, sister-property, former-name or booking-target conflict.
The 2004 report calls it Hotel De Russie, while current branding uses Hotel de Russie. The capitalization difference does not indicate another property. TravelMole also identifies the hotel as part of Rocco Forte and locates it on Via del Babuino.
Production context and date
The supported context is the Rome portion of the Ocean's Twelve production in June 2004. The contemporaneous article says filming had begun in central Rome at the start of June and was expected to continue around the city.
The evidence does not reveal Clooney's first night, last night or uninterrupted length of stay. It therefore does not convert the month-long production schedule into a month-long personal reservation.
Film-location evidence and accommodation evidence are treated separately. Clooney's work at Termini station and other Roman locations proves his production presence, while the hotel-headquarters and direct stay reports establish Hotel de Russie as accommodation.
The unsupported suite claim
The currently stored hotel source description assigns Clooney to a named Picasso Suite. The accessible evidence reviewed for this article does not verify that detail. The stored MovieWeb page could not be opened during research, and the independent sources used here do not name a Clooney room.
Other secondary material has attached different suite names to the 2004 stay. Conflicting unsourced room labels are a reason to omit the detail, not to choose one. A hotel may also rename or reconfigure rooms over time.
This article therefore verifies Hotel de Russie only. It does not publish the Picasso, Popolo, Nijinsky or any other suite as Clooney's accommodation. The core hotel record has not been edited.
What the evidence establishes
The evidence establishes that George Clooney was accommodated at Hotel de Russie during the Rome filming of Ocean's Twelve in June 2004. The person, hotel, city and production context align across contemporaneous and later independent sources.
It also establishes that the property discussed in those reports is the current Hotel de Russie on Via del Babuino. The hotel and booking identities remain consistent across the historical and current records.
What remains unverified
The reviewed sources do not establish a room or suite, exact dates, total nights, reservation name, payer, rate, companions sharing Clooney's accommodation, or which hotel services he used.
They do not prove that every Ocean's Twelve cast member stayed for the same duration, occupied the same floor or had a room at the hotel. The article also does not infer that Clooney uses Hotel de Russie on every Rome trip or treats it as a continuing preferred hotel.
A later 2007 report may describe another Hotel de Russie stay with Sarah Larson, but that separate trip is not needed for this verdict and is not merged into the 2004 production stay.
Why this receives grade B
Evidence grade B requires direct evidence from at least two independent reputable publishers. El Siglo de Torreón's contemporaneous agency report places the active film group at Hotel de Russie, TravelMole directly says Clooney stayed there during production, and Lonely Planet independently names him as a hotel guest.
The sources agree on the exact property and accommodation relationship. The official hotel page resolves the address but does not itself confirm Clooney, so the verdict remains Grade B rather than Grade A.
Evidence verdict
Verified: George Clooney stayed at Hotel de Russie in Rome during the June 2004 filming of Ocean's Twelve.
Relationship type: Stay.
Supported context: Accommodation during the film's Rome production.
Not verified: A room or suite, exact dates, total nights, reservation holder, payer, rate, complete guest list, later stays or a continuing preference.
This is a high-confidence exact-property stay verdict. It preserves the production context while refusing to turn an inaccessible or conflicting suite label into fact. No source image has been copied.
